What happens if I use a 30w ac power adapter for my extensa 5420 instead of a 65w adapter?
I have an Acer extensa 5420 and for no reason the ac power adapter that came with the laptop stopped working. Now I am using my cousin’s adapter for his acer netbook… But after 20 minutes of charging it starts making the sound it makes when I connect/disconnect it to the power. Does it have anything to do with the watts?
I am surprised that it even work for 20 minutes. I don’t think you should continue using that adapter because it will not provide enough power to the laptop, furthermore, the adapter may get really hot because it has to try to supply a larger amount of power it is capable of supplying. You should buy another adapter for your own laptop.
Just some background info, there are the 3 conditions that must be met to use another ac adapter.
1. The tip must exactly match
2. The output voltage must be exactly the same
3. The output amp must be the same or greate.
