Keyboard Cover
During the past several years, more and more owners have resorted to using odd items to cover and shield their instruments. Whether this valued possession is an investment or a prized heirloom, one must carefully consider how he will protect it from premature deterioration and aging. One of the things that easily comes to mind is the appropriate piano keyboard cover. Contrary to the common belief that piano keyboard covers are only used when storing your musical instrument, there are actually other equally important reasons why you need to have one even if it is not being stored for a long time.
We have seen a lot of materials that were used as screens in the past. These include blankets, quilts, bed sheets, newspapers and even plastics. You will be surprised by the ingenuity of some of us as you will discover all sorts of materials being used to wrap their instrument with. However, these are not the appropriate materials to use if you are really serious about protecting your musical instruments.
If you are anticipating your musical pieces of not being used over a period of time, then it is extremely important that it shielded from elements that can hasten its deterioration and aging. For instance, musical pieces that have stained finish must not be exposed to sunlight. Extended exposure to sunlight can easily result in cracking and blemishes. An effective way to protect it from the harmful effects of direct sunlight is by using the right overlay that can repel ultraviolet rays and prevent damage to your instrument as a result to direct exposure to sunlight.
Another potential cause of major damage to your prized possession is accumulating dust. It is not just the unsightliness that you must be concerned with as the accumulation of dirt and dust can result to your keys getting stuck. At the same time, the dust and dirt that accumulate on your musical instrument can damage the finish of the wood surface because of its abrasive nature. Dust can also cause significant damage to the tuning pins, dampers and felts.
If you have young kids in your home, then it is wise for you to have a protective screen for your instrument. You will be surprised at the number of potential damages that active kids can cause to your delicate and valuable musical piece. Dirty hands can severely damage the elegant finish of your instrument. A waterproof covering can protect your delicate instrument in cases where the kids accidentally spill their drinks on it.
There are still a lot of more reasons why you have to use the appropriate type of protective wrap for your valuable investment. You can’t just settle for any other alternative. You must not also use the cheap nylon covering as this will not sufficiently provide protection to your valuable piece. If you are really committed to care for your musical instrument, then you must be willing to invest on the right material that can provide the kind and level of protection that is required.
