Is is harmful to use a dc adapter supply for a electronic requiring ac input if the voltage is the same?

the short answer is — YES.

The long answer is — MAYBE.

When a device requires an AC input, this means that there is a poarity rectifier and a voltage regulator.

AC input goes into a rectifier, then a regulator. DC into the recifier is no big deal, the output from a bridge will be correct no matter if you feed it negative or positive. Next comes the regulator. It already takes the DC voltage from the recitifier and regulates it..

SO… DC into AC input still results in DC to the device. AC into a DC input misses rectifier and regulator.

The big IF here — what is the design of the power input? Will it accept a DC input, if it is inductive, it will not work. If it is a straight line from the connector to a bridge, it will work fine.

So your answer could be NO, Maybe, or Yes.
