Can I use a SCSI Ultra 320 for an Ultra 160 SCSI device?
Hi all – I have a Sony AIT5 tape drive (Ultra 160) and we have access to a new Dell PowerEdge 2900th I need to get a SCSI card and I can not find PCIX Ultra 160 card. The U160 is backward compatible? I look at Adaptec 29320LPE.
Ultra320 SCSI is backward compatible and support Ultra160 devices. But here are some warnings … 1st) If possible, move away from SCSI RAID. these types of cards are designed for use with hard disks that not tape drives. Actually, you can discover the error I / O, poor performance and data corruption. If you have a RAID-capable, you must disable the raid function. 2nd) Did not a connection string disk devices on the same bus with your tape drive.
